Who we are

Tilehouse Maps is run by Tilehouse Maps Ltd. Write to hello@tilehouse.io about anything on this page.

The map on our home page

The map behind our home page loads its style, tiles, fonts and icons from OpenFreeMap (tiles.openfreemap.org), so your browser sends those requests, with your IP address, to OpenFreeMap rather than to us.

IP addresses

We keep IP addresses for two things only: counting requests against our rate limits, and recording sign-in attempts to protect accounts. Both are deleted after 24 hours. Our web server doesn't write access logs with IP addresses, and a pilot request doesn't store yours.

Pilot requests and accounts

When you ask for a pilot we keep what you send us (name, work email, the site and your message) and email it to the team so we can set your pilot up. When you create an account we keep your name, email and a hash of your password, never the password itself.

Map requests from your site

When your site loads a Tilehouse map, our servers record which key made each request, the path, the response and the requesting site's origin, to count usage. They don't record your visitors' IP addresses in that log.
